We had fun raising our children and I had a satisfying career as a teacher, principal, and a county Principal-in-Residence. Now, as a retiree, I am using what I know about learning to improve my own work as a lifelong sketchbook artist. I live in San Diego with my husband, enjoy family and friends, read enthusiastically, travel frequently, and keep my sketchbook at hand.
Here are two self
portraits that span my sketchbook days. The first is a self-portrait I drew as a high school student in 1967. The second is a self-portrait from 2014.

Sally- I love your sketches. I never knew you were such an artist. You have inspired me to do more watercolor paintings.

Hi Sally:
I miss your posts on fb, tho i can think of many reasons for leaving there. I don’t get over here often but i am in love with the sunflowers in water!

I keep thinking about going back since I am becoming more and more out of touch, but I hate supporting a company that lets people manipulate others… got to make my way on this. Thank you for the like on the sunflowers!

About second thoughts. Well done. In 20 minutes? Wow. In 20 minutes, I have a mere pencil sketch. Which I then drop. Come back to later. 10-15 minutes, and so forth. 🙂
Great job.

Sally, this is Dave Denny. I really enjoy your images. Just wanted to let you know Tessa Bielecki and I had a lovely visit with Terry and Jeff after Pedro Aisa’s funeral in Prescott. Anne-Lawrie wanted you to know how fond of you Pedro was. The funeral and reception were beautiful. Jim Landis gave a beautiful eulogy at the end of mass. I preached a little homily and mentioned how deeply my time in Banamichi, Sonora has affected me.
I have moved away from Colorado, and on Saturday I move into an apartment in Tucson. I’m thrilled to be back in the Sonoran Desert. Hope 2020 goes well for you, and may our paths cross one of these years.

Hi Dave,
It is so nice to hear from you. I wish I could have gone to the funeral, it would have been wonderful to connect up with all of you and to see Anne-Lawrie especially. Terry said you all are doing well and how much she loved having you all. And now she says hello!
