What Are We Doing?

FullSizeRender (100)

I walked back up to the college today. It is a great place if you are a sketcher looking for people to draw. I sat across the walkway from two students and was able to capture the gist of their expressions and posture in several different sketches. I chose this one to post because I caught a bit of a dejected ‘that’s not right’ attitude from the figure on the left and a proactive ‘I have to figure this out’ from the figure on the right. Altogether, the sketch conveys a note of confusion about what the two women should do next, on this second day of fall classes. The simple ink lines for the two figures bring them forward and contrast with the less defined other figures. The light was harsh and I think I would have shown this better if I had used yellow in place of the purple and blue shadows.
