Sun Filled Street

Our Airbnb in Mazatlan is such a good place for sketching. It is on the fourth floor, overlooks the ocean, and a very steep hill rises to the left. About an hour before sunset the sun aligns with the street and floods it with a bright golden light. This afternoon I worked on capturing it, painting as quickly as I could in gouache.

    Wooooo Hoooo – this is simply fabulous! Caught the wind in the trees, the motion of the ocean, the glow and flow of the light, perspective is just right, and complementary colors are SO EFFECTIVE! Masterpiiece, Sarah!

      Sheila, I feel so encouraged from when I read your comments, thank you! I am hoping for similar lighting this afternoon so I can have a second go at this subject, I am so lucky to have this view.
