I had fun abstracting the 20-minute poses this morning at the San Diego Watercolor Society’s weekly figure drawing session. I think this one is my best for the day because I finally lost my caution. I started with a red-orange casein underpainting and painted the rest with gouache.

Hi Sarah. This is so powerful. I still see you, your style in it but expressed a bit differently. Maybe that’s the energy of your letting go of caution. I really like this! Catherine

It’s so good to hear from you, Catherine! You are right about the energy of letting go; I really felt it.

I think it’s fantastic, so arresting with the colors and angularity.
