I went to Mission Beach today and sketched away the day. The sea was energetic and so were a great many of the beachgoers. Even though the runners have a gravity defying angle to their posture, I like this sketch because of their enthusiasm about being there, which can be seen in their body language, especially in the lift of the central figure’s arm.
I got away from my deliberate practice goal of intentionally using a variety of line. I only have three types of line weight in this sketch. Although the lines do show show movement, position, and importance, the paint itself is the dominant means I used to communicate a story today.

Yes; the picture evokes for me the slightly disorienting/scary feeling of energy that I sometimes get looking at the ocean.

I was not thinking about disorientation as I sketched, but as soon as I read this comment, I realized that you identified something I was feeling when I made the sketch. Thank you Anna!
