A visit to the San Diego Museum of Man gave me a chance to think about using empty space along with line and color to better communicate a message, my practice goal for the week. I wanted to say something about the range of reactions visitors appear to have when viewing the stone monuments in the Maya exhibit and thought the open floor and large wall space would make a good contrast to the varied postures of the people.
I used an ink pen to sketch at the museum and added watercolor later at home.

Body language tells you a lot. That is why they call it “speech reading” and not “lip reading”.
