Entrance to a Parking Lot

Sketch of road by Sarah Sullivan

Entrance to a Parking Lot

There are some really beautiful intersections in San Diego and this entrance to Fenton Marketplace is one of my favorites. I began by sketching the intersection in pencil while standing on the island between the traffic lanes. It was an unnerving place to draw so I left and then added the color later at my desk. Unfortunately,  once I got home I could not remember some of the detail, such as how the headlights lit up the street. I delayed posting this because I thought I would get back there today and try again, but the day got away from me.

This is a pencil and pastel sketch on watercolor paper.
