Holiday Shopping

Holiday Shopping

It was a long line and the bright bouquet in the arms of a fellow shopper kept catching my eye. I began to watch as she interacted with her companion. They seemed so glad to be with each other that it made me glad to be there too. By the time I realized this might be a good subject for a gouache painting and then extracted my camera from my purse, the two of them were piling their groceries on counter and I thought I had missed the moment. Fortunately, holiday shopping being what it is, the couple had a little more time to wait and I got my photo.

This is a pastel and gouache sketch on black Bristol paper.
