Machado Plaza Wall in Mazatlan

Machado Plaza Wall

Machado Plaza Wall

Today I sketched with a large group at the Machado Plaza in Mazatlan. We sat across the plaza from a small hedge and a lovely bright wall. I loved all the different textures and colors of the scene and turned my sketchbook sideways to try to capture a slice of it. This sketch does not come close to doing it justice, perhaps I will try it again while I travel home tomorrow.

This is a gouache and pastel sketch on black Bristol paper.

    Hi Sally,

I am really enjoying your work and words. So glad Mary told me about this site. The work you’re making is lovely. Especially during this time, we need all the softness and beauty we can get. I enjoy surrounding myself with it, and your drawings are doing the trick.

    With warm wishes,
