During our recent trip, the sun set with brilliance in San Pancho. At times, the sky seemed as vibrant as cadmium red straight from the paint tube. I wanted to catch the feeling of being on a beach surrounded by red in this sketch.

Thank you Claudia, after putting in the sky once, I put medium over it, let it dry and then reapplied the gouache, it really upped the color intensity.

Gloss acrylic medium?

Pastel Ground by Golden. It has tooth, dries fast, and takes gouache well. I sometimes use it to help show brush movement. The downer is cleaning brushes afterwards, so I just use it in my home studio.

Hmm, this is an interesting product. It reminds me of clear acrylic gesso as a ground for acrylics (which I like in layering).

Lovely! Reminds me of Tom Thomson. And the wave is menacing!
