Our Thursday group met at Kate Sessions Park in Mission Beach. The first painter to arrive began painting, and as the rest of us joined the group, many of us put up our easels close to his and painted a similar scene. Usually, we spread out, but this particular view of Mission Bay through the trees seemed unusually special, perhaps because the trees were still bare and the morning light was bouncing around in the breeze as the haze lifted.

I do like your gouache work, wish it was easier to travel with gouache.

First of all, thank you for liking my work! I travel easily with gouache, the key is a water tight palette and a few water brushes. Check out this supply list for palette, paint, and brush suggestions: https://www.sdws.org/classes-detail.php?ID=2015819, it is posted on the webpage for the San Diego Watercolor Society.

Thank you. I already own all of that: watertight pallet, I use one for acrylics too. But even the small one, 16 cavities, is too big for my style of travel. I do have a small pallet, mini size, that I fill with some gouache primaries. If you check out my posts about my kit you will see that I travel ultra light and compact. So I look at yours and enjoy.

I’ll check your post out; packing is always a trade-off, is it?

I travels for 25 years, always light, thus the moniker theTravelsketcher.

I like the composition with the trees in the landscape. Reminds me a little of some Paul Nash landscapes.
