Drawing in the Bavarian Alps

Sketch of an Alpine scene near Hammersbach

Hammersbach

I have somehow made it from Denmark to Bavaria in Southern Germany without posting a single sketch. Fortunately, I will have lots of time this week to sketch and hope to learn something about painting alpine scenes.

This 12 X 12- inch gouache sketch shows a few of the large mountains that rise above the small town of Hammersbach. The mountains are dominating yet distant and I am determined to figure out how to capture both of these two features in a single sketch.
