Plants on a Patio

I have been so distracted by the coronavirus news that focusing on a sketch has been quite a challenge. It felt good today to actually finish a painting.

These pots are on our back deck and are such a pleasure to see each morning. Sheltering in place means I get to spend more time with them, and perhaps more time sketching them too.

I think the ability to create such beauty at a time like this is a special gift to the rest of us and a reminder of important things we might be overlooking. In a bleak day seeing this made me really happy

Use sketching, painting as a way to evacuate stress…
(I have a couple of unfinished sketches to go back to…)
    Stay safe.

Lovely painting ! I really like the creamy texture of gouache paint in other people’s paintings . I haven’t tried them yet – perhaps now might be the time ?
